Population: 42,658 Altadena is a charming community nestled in at the base of the San Gabriel mountains. It offers a woodsy setting amongst gigantic pine trees filled with blue jays and squirrels, yet is only minutes from Old Town Pasadena.

Altadena is located in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County and is part of the Pasadena Unified School District. In addition there are many fine private schools in both Altadena and nearby Pasadena.

Altadena Towne and Country Club is a favorite of families, with an excellant summer program for chidlren and a championship swim team. Adults enjoy the very active tennis group and the beautiful dining rooms and patios which have the mountains as their backdrop. It is adjacent to the Altadena Golf Course which is now a public course.

There are many hiking, horse and mountain bike trails in Altadena which give access to the spectacular displays of nature all around. Eaton Canyon has weekly guided and narrated nature walks as well.

Being located right up against the mountains and at a slight elevation, Altadena stays cooler than other nearby communities in the San Gabriel Valley. One feels the seasons a bit more too. It's even snowed several times!
