The City of Imperial, California was incorporated in 1904, and is located in Imperial County along California's southernmost border. The city is 210 miles southeast of Los Angeles, 122 miles East of San Diego, 250 miles west of Phoenix, Arizona and 20 miles north of Baja California, Mexico.

The City of Imperial has eight churches, a Public Library with new Youth Services Library and Community Center, six parks, a drive-in theater with two screens, and a theater with six screens.
