Lake Perris, formed by Perris Dam offers a variety of water recreation, including swimming, fishing (shore, pier and boat), boating, sailing, water-skiing, and a special area for scuba diving. The Perris Valley Museum offers a glimpse into life during the early years in Perris. Located within the historic Santa Fe Depot, it is one of the very few original buildings of
this style that today survives intact and unaltered. Designed by noted railroad station architect Benjamin Franklin Levet it was constructed and opened in 1888. Mr. Levet was the son-in-law of Frederick Thomas Perris, VP and Chief Engineer of the Southern California Railroad and the person for whom the City of Perris was named. Diamond Valley Lake, located within easy driving distance of Perris provides a reliable supply of water to the 18 million people in Southern California. Visitors can enjoy hiking and bike riding throughout the hills surrounding the reservoir.
