"Calling All Outdoor Types!"

The beauty of western Colorado is epitomized in Boulder and the surrounding areas. This quickly growing town is nestled at the foot of the Front Range Mountains. The snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains may be seen protruding above these lower mountains from a vantage point in nearby Longmont, about 15 minutes to the east. Boulder is a rapidly growing town, not just because of the natural beauty and limitless outdoor activities, but also because of a very diversified economy that has experienced a boom in high-tech jobs over the past several years.

The Boulder Valley was first home to the Southern Arapahoe tribe. Initially settled because of gold mining in the area, Boulder quickly became a major destination for tourists. Today, the city not only maintains a flourishing tourism industry, but also has received much recognition as one of America's best places in which to live. The scenic setting, clean air, low crime, and excellent economy have all attracted new businesses, a professional workforce, and young families looking for a high quality of life.

Residents of Boulder tend to be very fitness-conscience, and it is not hard to understand because this is indeed a city for lovers of the outdoors. Skiing in the nearby Rocky Mountains is among the world's best, while dozens of mountain parks (Rocky Mountain National Park is perhaps the best known) showcase nature as seen nowhere else in the country. A partial list of other activities includes hiking, biking, rafting, fly fishing, kayaking, horseback riding and gliding. Is it any wonder that Shape Magazine, Self Magazine and Health Magazine have all recognized Boulder as one of the nation's healthiest cities in which to live?

There is certainly more to Boulder than its natural beauty, though nothing is quite so exhilarating. Local attractions range from historical museums and sites, including the Chautauqua Park Historic District, to the Celestial Seasonings Tea Company, complete with a free 45-minute factory tour of Celestial's tea making process, from package design to production. Free samples of the latest flavors are also available.

There is really no end to what Boulder can offer to both residents and visitors. The city has its own special flavor that may only be grasped by taking it all in at once. Your senses will be quite shocked! Boulder is about 20 miles from Denver and is easily accessible from the Denver International Airport. The nearby town of Longmont is home to Amgen, one of the world's largest biotechnology companies and a major employer in the area.
