The economy of Loveland is anchored in manufacturing, publishing, government, trade, and the arts. Computers and peripherals as well as microelectronics comprise 40 percent of the area's advanced technology firms, while biotechnology firms represent another 14 percent. While numerous large firms, such as Hewlett Packard, Colorado Memory Systems, Hach Company, and Woodward Governor enjoy their Loveland location, small businesses are still the backbone of the economy.
Loveland enjoys easy access to the state's three largest universities: Colorado State University in Fort Collins (12 miles north); the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley (20 miles east); and the University of Colorado in Boulder (35 miles southwest).
Loveland Location
Loveland, Colorado is located 45 miles north of Denver in Larimer County. It sits in the plains due east of the Rocky Mountains. Interstate 25 cuts through the extreme eastern edge of the city limits while Colorado Highway 34, connecting the interstate and the mountains, bisects the community. This east-west highway is a major traffic route serving as the main access to Rocky Mountain National Park, located approximately 25 miles due west of Loveland. Interstate 70 is located 50 miles to the south in Denver, and Interstate 80 is 45 miles to the north in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
