(East Haven is a perfect blend of quiet family living and forward thinking)
The city of East Haven is a suburb of New Haven and retains very close ties with this metropolitan city. East Haven has a rich history dating back to the 1600's, when the land was purchased from Indian settlers and later named East Farms. Over the years this area became well known for its iron production and was one of only 3 such sites in all of New England.
Today, East Haven boasts of a diversified economy that relies upon both the available workforce and customer base of nearby New Haven. However, while East Haven looks toward the future with an aggressive vision, residents are continually reminded of the rich past that formed the foundation for this town. There are several area museums that showcase East Haven's earlier accomplishments, such as the Shore Line Trolley Museum, which includes a scenic 3-mile ride aboard an antique trolley car. By the way, this museum is the oldest operating trolley museum in the United States.
East Haven is accessible to I-95 and US 1, and is just minutes from downtown New Haven. Long Island Sound and New Haven Harbor are both within 2 miles from East Haven.
