Population: 18,350 The town of Plainville is located in Hartford County, Central Connecticut, and was first settled as a southeast district of Farmington. When this land (9.6 sq. miles) was surveyed in1721, there was only one settler on it. (Population now, 18,350). Because the area was sandy and covered with scrub oak, it was neglected for some time and used by owners in Farmington for hunting only. The first church society was organized in 1839, when the town was named. In 1869, the town was incorporated from Farmington.
