The city of Newark, located in New Castle County is 50 miles from Philadelphia, 70 miles from the Atlantic Ocean beaches, and less than an hour's drive from the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays. In addition to being so close to the Maryland and Pennsylvania borders, Newark is just a 20-minute drive from Wilmington - the First State's largest city. It is the home to the University of Delaware.
