The City of Atlantic Beach is a full service, ocean front community. The city is located right on the east side of the state of Florida right on the Atlantic Ocean. Along the coast it has 2 miles of beachfront, swaying palm trees, and more than its share of sunshine. Combine these desirable lifestyle elements with the important facilities located within our community and one begins to understand why our community has achieved the rate of constant growth over the last ten years.
The City contains approximately three square miles of land, predominantly residential in character. The City also incorporates almost two miles of ocean beach as its eastern boundary. Coconut palms and beach front is abound, and the image of swaying palm and lazy streamlet, makes Atlantic Beach one of the most attractable city's near the beach.
The City of Atlantic Beach is economically strong, with a stable tax base, healthy commercial business districts and above average income levels. The average household income level in Atlantic Beach is at, or above the median income for the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Taxable land value has also steadily increased since 1990.
In Atlantic Beach Single-family homes are available starting at $250,000 and going up in price from there. There are not many Condominiums or Town Homes available in this community at this time.
Atlantic Beach has had much of the development in the City been residential, with Single-family lots accounting for more than 55% of the developed land area. Undeveloped land within the City totals only approximately 10% of the incorporated land area, or about 200 acres.
Atlantic Beach has seven colleges and universities that the city is close to. Dedicated to serving the practical needs of the city's business community, in addition to general academic needs. Degrees from associate to doctorate, as well as non-degree course work, are available.
Atlantic Beach has a Commission-City Manager form of government. The Commission also includes the appointment of a City Manager, City Clerk, Attorney, other city officials, and official boards and advisory groups. The commission meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Meetings are open to the public.
