Margate, Florida
Jack Marquese, fouder of Margate, considered his town a gateway to the western part of the county. In 1965, he used part of his surname and a noun to create the city name.
The city offers one of the most-sophisticated shuttle bus services in Broward County. Margate's Fire Department is one of the city's jewels. In May 1996, the state named Margate "EMS Provider of the Year" based on excellence in patient care, disaster preparedness, public education and training.
In May of 1955, Margate became a town and then on June 22, 1961, Margate became incorporated as a City.
