The Alafia River runs quietly through Riverview and empties into the Hillsborough Bay. Residents enjoy the many activities a river can provide such as boating, fishing, skiing, canoeing, jet skiing, or just having a cookout at the Riverview Civic Center (located right on the river).
There are many businesses conveniently located on or near U.S. - Highway 301 that can fulfill most of your shopping needs. You can shop for groceries, rent a movie, pick up lunch, borrow a book from the library, have your tires checked, pick up your dry cleaning, take the family pet to the vet, order flowers, get your eye glasses fixed, teeth cleaned, see a doctor, and much, much more--all in one convenient area.
The Riverview Chamber of Commerce plans several, community events throughout the year. In the spring there is Country Jamboree complete with a Carnival, Chili Cook-off, Pie & Cookie Contest, Arts & Craft show and the winner of the Honorary Mayors race is announced. In May, we have the Annual Golf Tournament, which is great fun with great prizes. In October many of the businesses sponsor Trick-or-Treat Street, U.S.A. This is a safe street created with storefront facades, in which children go door to door receiving candy from local business people. The Lighted Christmas Boat Parade is "not to be missed". Held early in December, the Parade travels upriver on the Alafia, beginning at Williams Park on Highway 41 through Riverview and ends at the Riverview Civic Center.
