(Many gorgeous views of the Atlantic Ocean are to be found all along Satellite Beach)
The town of Satellite Beach is located along Florida's famed "Space Coast", aptly name for the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral, which are located just 25 miles to the north. Visitors to Satellite beach will quickly understand why people are attracted to this area. Because of its location on a barrier island sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and the Banana River Lagoon, Satellite Beach is literally surrounded by nature. Along with nearby towns, residents maintain an attitude of pride and preservation when it comes to all of their natural neighbors.
Satellite Beach owns its own unique piece of nature in the Samsons Island Nature Park. This 52-acre park is part of a fascinating estuary system that spans 156 miles along Florida's east coast. The park contains many of the 2,200 different animal species and 2,100 types of plants found along this system, including a few dozen endangered species and many types of birds. Samsons Island is a great sampling of eastern Florida's flora and fauna and should be included on every visitor's itinerary.
Satellite Beach, together with several surrounding town, provides a host of recreational opportunities through the day and many lively spots for evening fun. Families with children will appreciate the extensive schools system in this area and the kids will certainly be impressed by NASA launches at Cape Canaveral.
Satellite Beach is situated along Miramar Boulevard (Highway A1A) and is easily accessible to the nearby towns of Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, and Palm Bay. The city of Orlando is about 90 minutes away, providing big-city fun and excitement.
