(The Astronaut Hall of Fame)
Affectionately known as "Space City, USA", Titusville is home to much of the country's aviation history. The Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum celebrates our earliest achievements in flight technology, and the Astronaut Hall of Fame showcases the accomplishments of the first men to fly rockets and other precursors to present-day spacecraft. Explore the future of space travel at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and the NASA Visitor Center.
In addition to being the site of some of our country's biggest technological wonders, the town of Titusville offers much in the way of natural wonders as well. Situated along the Indian River with quick access to Cape Canaveral and the Canaveral National Seashore, Titusville is in the center of a natural playground. Nearby Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge features 140,000 acres which are home to 16 threatened or endangered mammals and some of the world's finest birding. Fishing types will be spoiled by the vast opportunities for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Families can take advantage of several area parks for a quiet picnic with the kids.
While most of Titusville's attractions are centered on the space program and the unique natural environment that exists here, there are several historical and cultural sites that may be of interest. The North Brevard Historical Museum showcases some items from the area's early settlers. Historic Downtown Titusville is a National Historic District and a Main Street City. Much of the earliest buildings have been preserved. Fans of more modern cultural attractions will enjoy a visit to the Titusville Playhouse, which produces 6 major theatrical productions (drama, comedy & musicals) each year. The Titusville Art League sponsors several art shows in the community, provides classes in many art media, and promotes the arts in the area. For classical music fans, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra is quite a treat.
Titusville is located along US 1 with close proximity to I-95. Orland is approximately 45 minutes to the west.
