Mountain Home was a stopping point for all of those traveling the Oregon Trail. This is evident by the Oregon Trail Historical Site that sits outside of the city limits. Mountain Home was once a shipping station for over one million pounds of wool annually, but it's now better known for being the home of Mountain Home AFB, the only Air Expeditionary Wing in the Air Force.
