Nampa is located in Canyon County

Population: 50,000 Welcome to our beautiful, picturesque city - one of the most livable cities in the United States. Nampa is located in the fertile Snake River plain in Southwest Idaho and is the second largest city in Idaho with a population of over 50,000. Our community is full of friendly people located in the wondrous, prosperous Treasure Valley.

Nampa can accommodate your tastes in entertainment with our outstanding Idaho Center, which holds a vast array of entertainment venues. Nampa also offers a large selection of fine hotels and restaurants. Our numerous recreation areas are within easy driving distance of the city and include ski resorts, lakes, rivers, mountains, canyons, caves and reservoirs.

Nampa boasts a diverse community with wonderful amenities such as universities, hospitals, parks, high tech companies, farming, ranching, wood products, wild rodeo action, American fighter airplanes, world class golf, and many other factors that provide a healthy economy and job market.

We've created pleasant gathering places - our multi-faceted Civic Center, where we host everything from trade shows to symphony concerts; our historic downtown district; Idaho's first indoor shopping mall; a 135,000 square foot recreation center and two of the most scenic public golf courses in the Northwest - to name just a few. Our vision for the future includes the new Liberty Park, a green belt and other amenities planned with people in mind.

Healthy lifestyles thrive in Nampa's environment: clean industries, a mild climate, varied cultural, recreational and scenic opportunities, an excellent transportation network, a thriving business community, and especially, great neighbors. Find out why Nampa is a great place to live, visit, work, and play. Nampa's residents extend a warm welcome to you - come and enjoy life with us!

The Treasure Valley is known as "Idaho's Banana Belt". The average temperature is 64.4 degrees, and average annual precipitation is 11.7 inches. Beautiful spring weather is heralded by blossoms on fruit trees and warm breezes. Though temperatures may soar on summer days, the warmth is not unpleasant because of low humidity. "Indian summer" takes on a new meaning in the fall, when residents pick apples and watch ducks and geese fly to their winter home at nearby Deer Flat National Game Refuge. By December, snow may fall but blizzards are rare. Nampa's average annual windspeed is only nine MPH. Winters are mild, with average January temperature of 37 degrees. There's plenty of snow for snowmobiling or building a snowman, but not enough to hamper driving conditions.

Recreation
Fitness is a vital component of life for people in Nampa. Residents play everything from horseshoes to tennis in 120 acres of public parks. Facilities include: swimming pools, tennis courts, softball fields, jogging-fitness paths, a rose garden, an amphitheater, volleyball courts, basketball courts, an archery range, horseshoe pits, a BMX bicycle racetrack, barbecue and picnic areas, and plenty of equipment for tiny tykes. The Nampa Recreation Center provides a wide variety of leisure and exercise facilities.
