The Oak Forest Park District operates 19 facilities and parks with playgrounds, picnic areas, ball fields, an 18-hole miniature golf course and a Health and Fitness Center. Residents enjoy a wide variety of programs, team and individual sports, and special events. Cook County Forest Preserve Bicycle Paths surround the community. The home to one of the best public courses in the country, the George W. Dunne National Golf Course is open from May to October.
LOCATION
Oak Forest is ideally located adjacent to I-57 and a half-mile north of the I-57/I-80 junction for fast and easy access to the City of Chicago and to the southern most regions of the state. Just north of the City, travelers can access I-294, which connects north to the Wisconsin border and east to Indiana. Oak Forest’s Metra Rail Station provides a short train ride to Downtown Chicago. Two major Business Corridors offer a wide variety of shopping and dining opportunities. The Harlem Avenue Business Center and The Corporate Center of Oak Forest provide for both small and large industry.
