Orland Park is located in Cook County
Population: 35,720 Orland Park is one of the fastest growing communities in Cook County. Surrounded by acres of forest preserves, Orland Park contains a mix of high technology office complexes, up-to-date commercial centers, beautiful residential areas and historical landmarks.
The first settlers and farmers came to what was then called York Precinct in the mid-1800s. Soon afterwards, the area came to be known as the "English Settlement" because many of the new residents were English immigrants.
In 1892, the village was incorporated and adopted the name "Orland Park." The village's first president was John Humphrey.
In honor of Humphrey's contributions to Orland Park, his family home, constructed in 1881, now serves as a historical museum.
Leisure time activities abound in Orland Park. The villages Recreation and Parks Department offers a comprehensive program for all ages including preschool, dance, exercise, music, cultural arts, crafts, workshops, clubs, trips, youth and teen programs, athletics, senior activities and special recreation.
A new addition to the village's park system is the Community Park. This 192 acre park includes the village's first community swimming pool, jogging and walking paths and athletic fields.
