Wheaton, with its strong reputation as a family-oriented community, gained even more notoriety when it was chosen one of “50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family,” in the book published by Lee and Saralee Rosenberg. One of the top Illinois communities for residential and commercial construction, Wheaton has done a wonderful job of preserving the vintage appeal, during the renovation of the downtown district, while still recognizing the demand for growth, progress and expansion that today’s world requires.

The Wheaton School System consistently ranks among the best in Illinois. Wheaton-Warrenville District 200 services elementary through high school students. A Catholic elementary school and high school, and a non-denominational Christian elementary school are also located here. Advance placement courses for college and a great variety of extra-curricular activities provide for well-rounded programs available at the high schools. The 70-acre campus of Wheaton College, one of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges in the country, is located in the heart of the city. College of DuPage, located in neighboring Glen Ellyn, is the largest community college in Illinois, with over 32,000 full- and part-time students at its 273 acre campus.

Honored with a National Gold Metal for excellence in park and recreation management, the Wheaton Park District offers 47 facilities throughout the 752-acre park system. An endless number of recreational and educational activities for children to seniors are available throughout the year. Two pools, including the Rice Lake Pool and Water Park, offers hours of summer enjoyment. The Community Center has a 6,000 square foot fitness center, theatre and activity rooms. Cosley Animal Farm and Museum offers a wonderful educational experience for children.

Commuter travel to and from Chicago’s business, shopping and sports districts is available via the Metropolitan Rail “Metra’s” Union Pacific West line. Air transportation is available from O’Hare International Airport located approximately 21 miles northeast of Winfield, Midway Airport 20 miles east, and DuPage County Airport 5 miles northwest. Many interstate highways are also easily accessible.

A pleasant mixture of old and new, the housing styles in Wheaton are both distinct and varied in order to encompass a variety of tastes and price ranges. From the charming and lovely Victorian, Arts and Crafts and Colonial homes to the traditional or contemporary 2 stories, split levels and ranches, or the convenience of townhome and condominium living – there’s a home for whichever best suits your needs. Pricing for Wheaton homes ranges from approximately $180,000 to over $2,000,000. For more information, please call Karen.
