Winfield is located in DuPage County
Population: 8,700 The Village of Winfield, incorporated in 1921, is located in west central DuPage County approximately 27 miles west of downtown Chicago. The Village’s current population is just over 8,700. Winfield borders the Blackwell Forest Preserve, which contains over 20 miles of footpaths and unmarked, but mowed, paths, on its northwest border.
The primary park district serving Village residents is the Winfield Park District. Facilities include fifteen park sites, totaling nearly 68 acres, which are owned and operated by the district. These sites provide numerous baseball fields, soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts, sand volleyball, a gazebo used for community events, various hiking areas, a picnic pavilion, a fishing pond, historical museum and a canoe launch. Activities and classes are available for all ages (Tots through Senior Adults) and include special needs activities through the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA).
Wheaton School District 200, Winfield School District 34 and West Chicago School District 33 all serve Winfield residents for grades pre-K through 8th grade. Wheaton North High School (District 200) and West Chicago Community High (District 94) are the high schools attended.
Commuter travel to and from Chicago’s business, shopping and sports districts is available via the Metropolitan Rail “Metra’s” Union Pacific West line. Air transportation is available from O’Hare International Airport located approximately 21 miles northeast of Winfield, Midway Airport 20 miles east, and DuPage County Airport 5 miles northwest. Many interstate highways are also easily accessible.
