(Lawrenceburg)
Lawrenceburg is called Whiskey City because of the many distilleries that operated in town. Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, the world's largest distillery, remains. It was started in 1851 but sold to a French company in the summer of 2000.
Lawrenceburg, county seat of Dearborn County, is on the banks of the Ohio River about 25 miles downriver from Cincinnati. Lawrenceburg was founded in 1801 by Samuel Vance, a soldier under Gen. George Washington and an aide to Gen. Anthony Wayne. Vance named the city in honor of his wife, whose maiden name was Lawrence.
When you step foot in Lawrenceburg, Indiana you enter the best of all worlds.
