The Little Acorn Newsletter originated as a tiny newsletter in the Ancient Oak subdivision more than 30 years ago. It is now published quarterly, in March, June, September, and December, by the Darnestown Civic Association.
The Darnestown Civic Association, Inc., a nonprofit corporation formed in 1967, represents the interests of Darnestown residents in matters pertaining to the welfare of Darnestown and its residents. The DCA also also holds quarterly Town Meetings and publishes a telephone directory of Darnestown residents. darnestowncivic.org coming soon.
Darnestown Boundaries: Darnestown is about twenty miles northwest of Washington, DC, along the Potomac river, in Montgomery county, Maryland. Since Darnestown is not incorporated its boundaries are not statutory, although they are defined and communicated to county officials. The 2000 Census showed over 6,700 residents in an area of some 12 square miles centered approximately at the intersection of Darnestown Rd. (Rt. 28) and Seneca Rd. (Rt. 112).
