The Timberlane School District serves over 3,500 students in grades 1-12 for the towns of Atkinson, Danville, Plaistow and Sandown. The original Atkinson Academy building, now a public elementary school, is historic as it is the oldest co-educational secondary school in America still standing. Town Programs include: Elderly Affairs for senior citizens; Atkinson Baseball which has T-Ball for the very young, baseball for age 12 boys and girls, and softball for girls from 2nd grade through age 16; Timberlane Youth Soccer in the spring and fall for ages 6-15, and younger soccer league of 5 and 6 year olds; Story Hour, a children's reading program with activities that vary according to age group; and Sun 'N Fun, a summer recreation program. Atkinson enjoys a volunteer fire department boasting a staff with up-to-the minute training and state-of-the-art lifesaving tools. Volunteers work in the schools, belong to civic organizations and serve in the town government to make the community a wonderful place to live and raise children.
