Bedford is located in Hillsborough County

Bedford is conveniently located just miles to the west of Manchester. The current site of Bedford was once farmland, owing to the agricultural past of the Manchester area. This farmland has been replaced by cozy homes for people commuting to Manchester. While Bedford is not a very vibrant commercial center (with an 80/20 residential-to-business ratio), there are signs that increased industry may be in Bedford's future. Route's 3 and 101, the latter of which leads into Manchester, are the hearts of Bedford's business community and have seen some new developments.

The Manchester area has many distinctive qualities which surrounding towns tend to adopt. Bedford's school system is highly touted in the area, which is an enormous compliment given the quality of schools in Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties. As such, recent efforts in Bedford have been redirected toward improving the town's recreational opportunities. Progress has been made in this arena as a 70-acre park recently opened with several ball fields, ski trails, fishing and ice skating.

Bedford offers affordable housing, though most properties are sold within a month of being on the market. As Bedford becomes more popular as a commuter town, new housing developments will likely spring up and housing prices may also do the same.

Bedford's close proximity to Manchester (10 minutes) and Nashua (20 minutes) add immensely to the living experience of its residents. Baboosic and Massabesic Lakes are within several miles and provide additional recreational activities.
