ZONING
Rural - Agricultural.  Any deviation to be approved by the Planning Board. Zoning requires 2 acres, (unless otherwise grandfathered), a minimum of 290' frontage on a Town approved road and the ability to draw a circle 200’ in diameter on the lot.

PUBLIC SERVICES
Private trash collection once a week. Disposal area is on Rte 102 and is open Saturdays 7 AM to 2 PM, and Wednesday 6 to 8 PM. Permits available at the Town Hall. Members of the Solid Waste and Recycling Committee meet the first and third Tuesday of the month in Town Hall, 7 PM.  State Police and local Sheriff, Police Chief and part-time officers. Volunteer fire department, fire house on Raymond Road. (Rte 102)

SCHOOLS
Public:  Chester Preschool and Kindergarten, 465 Derry Road. Nursery School runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 AM.  Kindergarten classes run Monday through Thursday 12:30 to 3:30 PM. Contact Barbara Stein, director, 603.887.6016.

Chester Academy is located on Raymond Road near Town Center and ballfield. The school currently serves children in grades one through eight. There is an ongoing morning day care program for those who wish to drop off their children prior to 8 AM.  603.887.3621. Day care opens at 7 AM and closes at 6 PM.

Chester students attend High School at Pinkerton Academy in Derry.

Private: Chester College of New England was founded in 1965 as White Pines College, is located on Chester Street. The college is a four year co-educational institution that grants an associate in arts degree in various academic programs.  603.887.4401.

LIBRARY
Chester Public Library, Chester Street, is open Monday and Wednesday 6 to 9 PM; Tuesday and Thursday 10 AM to 8 PM; Friday 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday (during school sessions) 9 AM to 1 PM. Closed on Saturdays July and August.  603.887.3404.  Wadleigh Library, located on the campus of White Pines College on Chester Street, open Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Sunday through Thursday 6 to 9 PM.  603.887.4401.

Baptist:  Chester Congregational Baptist Church, 4 Chester Street. Sunday service begins at 11 AM, Sunday school at 9:30, 603.887.4799
Catholic:  St. Jeromes Mission meets at the Chester Congregational Baptist Church on Chester Street.  Saturday Mass begins at 5:45 PM.
Independent:  Fellowship Bible Church, Rod and Gun Club Road. Sunday 9:30 AM morning worship, Sunday school 11 AM, evening service 6 PM.  603.887.2599.

ORGANIZATIONS
Lion's Club, Grange, American Legion, Boy Scouts, Brownies, PTA, Little League, and a senior citizens group.   The Walking Group - Golden Steppers - meet at 8 AM Town Hall.

RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
3 Athletic fields, private camping facilities, Boy's and Girl's Club in East Derry, Chester School Gym.  There are Town recreational fields along Rte 102, baseball, soccer, and summer recreational program.  Conservation Trails branches off from the Town fields.  Also in the area, is a trail through the town owned Mossman property.

Three Selectmen, office is 603.887.4979. Town Hall is open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM; Mondays by appointment 7 to 9 PM.
