"An Apple A Day..."

Londonderry is a charming town located in southeastern New Hampshire, about 10 miles south of Manchester. Founded largely on agriculture, Londonderry maintains the rural lifestyle of its early days. An interesting historical footnote is that many of the country's most famous "sons" came from this area, including poet Robert Frost and the first American in space, Alan B. Shepard.

Being the birthplace of such gifted people as these, the Londonderry school system has quite a reputation to uphold. In fact, Londonderry schools have been cited for excellence by the U.S. Department of Education and have received the highest accreditation possible by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Many institutions of higher learning are within an hour's drive of Londonderry, including a branch of the University of New Hampshire, and one of the greatest conglomerations of universities in the Boston area (MIT, Harvard, and Boston University to name a few).

Culture is a very important aspect of life in Londonderry. Two museums are located in town: The Morrison House Historical Museum and the Children's Metamorphosis Museum, private, non-profit interactive museum for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Other historical and culutural sites are located in nearby Manchester.

Clinging tightly to its agricultural upbringing, Londonderry operates five apple orchards. The state of New Hampshire has designated a scenic highway connecting these orchards called, appropriately, The Apple Way. During the autumn months visitors traveling this road are also greeted by some of the best fall color in New England.

Londonderry represents everything that is unique about the New England area. Life is quiet, the scenery is beautiful, and history is celebrated through museums and festivals. Londonderry's proximity to Manchester only adds to the unique New Hampshire experience.

Londonderry is serviced by highway 102 and is only minutes from I-93. The town of Nashua, often noted as one of America's most desirable places to live, is just 7 miles to the southwest.
