STRATHAM    A quiet rural town with the absence of a commercial town center in modern day.  Stratham is linked to its history as a corridor, as well as a suburb, even in the earliest days when farming was the primary activity in town.  The town is 15 square miles of gently rolling countryside. The area is crisscrossed by a few highways. Most of the traffic is from Exeter to Durham and Dover via Route 108, and Portsmouth via Route 33.  Stratham has had a steady growth and never lost its small rural feeling.  The economy is fueled by the occupants of the Stratham Industrial Park and by dozens of large and small businesses lining the town's two main roadways. The community is experiencing steady growth, and recently doubled its population. There is still a sense of quiet, rural lifestyle.  With a variety in housing, from river view homes and Condo's to the vistas afforded from Stratham Heights this is a lovely place to live.

Education plays an important role in Stratham, home to many private preschools, a Montessori school and community supported Memorial School (K-6). Youth recreation programs are baseball, basketball, soccer and softball. The programs are run by a volunteer recreation director. The Stratham Fair is in July at the Stratham Hill Park.

The community of Stratham provides excellent public services, wonderful educational facilities, and a favorable economic base and tax climate and are ideal locations for a business or residence.  Sewer and water are available through private wells and septic systems. There is public trash collection. Recycling is a voluntary drop-off.

Stratham is a very English name. The correct pronunciation is "Strat-um." The "h" is silent.
