Windham is located in Rockingham County

Windham is located in southern New Hampshire, not far from the border of Massachusetts. This area is an attractive place for both younger families and older couples as it provides great opportunities and quiet living. Easy access to the growing high-tech industry north of Boston combines with local retail businesses to produce a very small-town feel without the big-city noise, but with big-city amenities close at hand.

Windham can trace its origins back to the early 1700's when boats of Irish and Scottish families settled upon the Boston area. With the intention of exploring the New England area these groups of families came upon the site that encompasses Windham as well as several other towns in the area, including Salem. After a long struggle between those favoring annexation with the town of Salem and those against it, community lines were redrawn and Windham became a separate community.

Community pride is quite evident in Windham. Much of the sports and recreational activities available to residents are the byproduct of volunteers taking time to plan and develop activities for both children and adults. Several area parks and recreational facilities insure something for everyone. Social activities bringing neighbors and friends together are held throughout the year. A few of these include the Skating Social and the Masquerade Ball complete with swing dancing.

Windham is situated just off of I-93, about 15 miles south of Manchester, New Hampshire's largest city, and 30 miles north of Boston.
