Hackettstown is located on the eastern edge of Warren county, bordered by Morris County, Allamuchy Township, Mansfield Township, and Independence Township, with the Musconetcong River flowing along the town's eastern edge. It is situated between Schooley's and Scott's Mountains, and grew as the center for the surrounding agricultural area, as a service town for those vacationing on Schooley's Mt., and as a center for carriage manufacturing. It is Warren County's second largest municipality.
