Mount Holly is know as an Historical Township. The Washington House, located on High Street, was a tavern in 1749, and is now home of United States Congressman James Saxton.

Mount Holly served as a regional shopping and service center for the county, and is still the home of many major businesses such as Haddonfield Lumber Company, Goldy's Pharmacy and Acme Markets. Specialty stores such as David Jewelers and The Shoe String remain anchored to the shopping district.
When Mount Holly became an Urban Enterprize Zone, Burlington County College partnered with the township to create the Business and Career Development Center. This center exists to assist businesses with all types of assistance they may need, provide individuals with career guidance, and give the residents of Mount Holly access to the college right here in Mount Holly.
