Rockaway's main street provides convenient shopping. Regional shopping areas are accessible on Route 46 and Rockaway Town square Mall provides access to major department stores and specialty shops. As part of the New York metropolitan area, Rockaway is within an hour's commute to NYC and its extensive cultural, sports, dining and employment opportunities.

Rockaway is in an excellent location with quick access to routes 46 and 80 via car or bus. New Jersey Transit provides rail commutation service, with direct access to New York City from Denville or Dover. Morristown Municipal Airport houses corporate jets for businesses.

The opportunity for higher learning at the college and university levels is also available within Morris County at Drew University (Madison), Fairleigh Dickenson University (Madison-Florham Park), St. Elizabeth's College (Convent Station) and Morris County Community College (Randolph).
