Rutherford is centrally located 8 miles west of New York City. We are 12 miles from Newark International Airport, 2 miles from the NJ Turnpike and 4 miles from the Garden State Parkway. Conveniently located on the New Jersey Transit Bergen line, NJT's Secaucus Transfer Station will link the Bergen County train lines with the Amtrak east cost Boston-Washington line. This will provide Rutherford commuters with direct train access to mid-town Manhattan. This improvement is projected to double Rutherford's train station traffic and will cut 8 to 15 minutes off the commute to New York City, each way! There will be increased frequency of rail service and reverse commute trains. In other towns where New Jersey Transit made similar improvements, property values have rapidly increased.
