The mission of the Wayne School District is to ensure that each student reaches his or her academic potential. District resources are used to develop a student's intellectual and social capabilities. Goals include student mastery of basic and higher order skills. Democratic values are reinforced. Self-esteem and a sense of responsibility is developed. We believe that our students should have access to the most advanced technology and equipment available to enhance their learning and better prepare them for the college or career challenges that await them. The Wayne School District offers a comprehensive and exciting educational challenge for over 8,600 students. To meet their educational needs, the Wayne Board of Education has established policies which make it possible for each student to be exposed to an appropriate educational program. The District maintains nine elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Students at all grade levels, identified with physical, academic or emotional special needs are provided with appropriate educational experiences. Throughout the Districts thirteen schools, a core of academic experiences based on New Jersey State guidelines is enriched with a diversity of course offerings. High school students have the opportunity to enroll in Advanced Placement Courses in Mathematics, Sciences and Language Arts.
