Population: 16,906 The township of Bedford includes the Hamlets of Bedford Hills, Bedford Village and Katonah. Bedford is a town of rolling hills, woods and open land, with much of the land protected by four acre zoning. It is the essence of country living, with residents who are both sophisticated and dedicated to the town. There is no lack of cultural activity, for Bedford is home to two famous cultural centers. Private clubs and associations in Bedford are the Bedford Golf and Tennis Club and the Bedford Riding Lanes Association. The BLRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the open spaces that have always characterized Bedford. Specifically, the goal of the BLRA is to maintain and extend a system of over 200 miles of trails which are used primarily for horseback riding, walking and cross-country skiing. The Bedford Golf and Tennis club offers 147 acres of golf, over ten clay tennis courts and swimming facilities. The Mianus River Gorge offers hiking and picnicking in beautiful woodlands and is a short 10-minute drive from nearly anywhere in Bedford.
