Dix Hills Relocation Guide

Dix Hills is located in Suffolk County

Population: 26,024

Located in the Town Of Huntington, this mostly residential community is highly sought after for its large homes set upon sizable properties.   Dix Hills is easily accessed via the Northern State Parkway or the Long Island Expressway. Most residents that commute into Manhattan take the LIRR from Huntington. By car, Dix Hills is 37 miles from midtown Manhattan.

While a portion of Dix Hills residents attend the Commack Schools, most of the homes are zoned for the Half Hollow Hills School District, which features seven elementary schools (Chestnut Hill, Forest Park, Otsego, Paumanok, Signal Hill, Sunquam and Vanderbilt), two middle schools (Candlewood and West Hollow), and two high schools (Half Hollow Hills East and Half Hollow Hills West).

Commerce is very limited in Dix Hills proper, however, Dix Hills residents are in close proximity to shopping along Commack Road and Jericho Turnpike, in Commack, East Northport and Elwood. Additionally, Dix Hills residents are just a short drive from parts of Deer Park and Huntington, where the Walt Whitman Mall is located (on Route 110).

All of the neighborhoods feature tree-lined streets, with the more high-end homes being nestled in private, wooded areas. While the most popular home style is definitely the Colonial, homebuyers can also find large L-Shaped Ranches, Farm Ranches, Contemporary Homes, and Hi-Ranch homes in certain neighborhoods.  Home prices in Dix Hills range from $500,000 - $4,000,000.
