East Fishkill is located in Southern Dutchess County and as of the 2000 census, has a population of 25,589. East Fishkill is comprised of the following hamlets: Fishkill Plains, Hillside Lake, Hopewell Junction, Hortontown, Gayhead, Pecksville, Shenandoah, Stormville and Wiccopee. The town is bordered by Beekman, Fishkill, La Grange, Pawling and Wappingers.

School Districts serving East Fishkill include Arlington Central School District, Carmel Central School District, Pawling Central School District and Wappingers Central School District. The Town Board is the primary governing body of the town with one elected town supervisor and four elected council members.

Numerous recreational activities are offered throughout the town at many of the town's parks and recreational areas. These include Red Wing Park, East Fishkill Recreation Park, Brettview Recreation Area, Leetown Road Recreation Area, Wiccopee Recreation Area, Route 52 Recreation Complex and Emmadine Pond.
