Village of Edgemont
A charming community which traces its roots back to Colonial times, Edgemont is a portion of the unincorporated area of the Town of Greenburgh. There are approximately 2,800 households in the area. The majority of Edgemont residents have a Scarsdale post office address. Edgemont is governed by a Town Board and it is bound by town ordinances in such matters as taxes, zoning, police and sanitation. Shopping is a pleasure for Edgemont residents. They have a choice of two local areas - the charming Hartsdale and Scarsdale villages plus a large variety of shops and supermarkets as well as discount shopping on Central Avenue. The Westchester and large department stores are located 3 miles away in White Plains. The Bronx River Parkway and Sprain Parkway provide easy access to all of Westchester and nearby New York City. The bus line from White Plains to Manhattan passes through the area on Central Avenue. The Harlem Division of Metro North services Edgemont in Hartsdale and Scarsdale with a commuting time of 32 minutes.
Recreational Facilities
Excellent facilities and programs provide year round enjoyment for the residents of Edgemont. The Greenburgh Nature Center is a 33 acre woodland preserve offering a wide range of nature and ecology topics. Residents can enjoy playing on eight tennis courts operated by the district and ice skating on beautiful Crane's Pond. The Edgemont Recreation department offers a varied program of activities for youngsters during the school year as well as a nominally priced six-week day camp during the summer. Edgemont residents may join the Greenburgh Town Park in nearby Ardsley, a 20 acre complex with three pools, 19 lighted tennis courts, cabanas and a clubhouse.
