Mount Kisco is located in Westchester County

Population: 9,108 Just 36 miles from mid-town Manhattan, Mt. Kisco is smallest of the Northern Westchester towns geographically, although it has the largest population. It is the "hub" of commercial and recreational activities in the area and is surrounded by dirt roads, horse meadows and stately homes. Mt. Kisco's 8500 residents are governed by a Mayor, four Trustees and a Village Manager. Five percent of the work force commutes to Manhattan, but there are also many large corporations in the area. They include Reader's Digest, IBM and Pepsico. Mt. Kisco exhibits many beautiful examples of Victorian architecture, including where the movie "Ragtime" was filmed, tree-lined residential streets, and a wide selection of condominiums and co-ops.

Transportation
Mt. Kisco is just 50 minutes from Manhattan on the Metro-North Harlem Line. For travel within Westchester, there are over 50 bus routes. If you prefer to drive, I-684 runs the entire length of the county and affords access to most of the highways into New York. The Westchester County Airport is just minutes from Mt. Kisco in nearby Armonk.

Recreation
Just off Rte. 172 is the site of Leonard Park, offering swimming, tennis, paddle tennis, softball, baseball, soccer and seasonal ice skating. Mt. Kisco also has a Boy's and Girl's Club which has year-round swimming and other activities for people of any age. The Saw Mill River Club has Tennis, Racquetball, Swimming, and Aerobics Classes, as well as luxurious locker rooms with sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, and massage and tanning rooms. The Mt. Kisco Country Club caters to golfers. Westmoreland Sanctuary and the Butler Meyer Nature Preserve offer 208 acres of trails, wildlife habitats, marked trees, shrubs and ferns to adults and children alike. The Cornelia Marsh Sanctuary is an environmental sanctuary including a small museum and nature library. It also has 90 acres of woodland, hiking trails, fields and marsh, and is also located off Rte. 172.

Shopping
Mt. Kisco has over 400 retail shops in town and in the Bazaar Mall.

Schools
Mt. Kisco has a variety of public and private schools to meet the needs of students of all ages. Public schools include Mt. Kisco and West Patent Elementary Schools, Fox Lane Middle School, grades 6-8 and Fox Lane High School, grades 9-12. Private and Parochial Schools in the area are the Karafin School, specializing in the learning disabled students, the Rippowam Cisqua School, pre K-9, St. Patrick's Elementary School, grades K-8, the Harvey School, grades 6-12 and John F. Kennedy High School, grades 9-12.

Area Colleges
There are a variety of secondary schools around Westchester that offer opportunities for study in virtually any field. They include Manhattanville College, Pace University - Pleasantville and Briarcliff campuses, SUNY Purchase, and Westchester Community College.
