Tomkins Cove is located in Rockland County
Tomkins Cove is a hamlet of Stony Point featuring sweeping views of the Hudson River and Westchester County. Tomkins Cove served as a mooring point for the Hudson River National Defense Reserve Fleet during WWII. An anchor from a World War II cargo ship arches over a large inscribed boulder dedicated to the fleet. At the peak of activity 189 cargo and passenger ships were moored here. After WWII, and up until April 1971, the ships remained to ferry supplies, food, and fuel to our servicemen and allies overseas.
