Thompson's Station  is located 7 miles south of Franklin, adjacent to Spring Hill. Incorporated in 1990 with a population of 791. A special census of Thompson's Station was completed in 1995 with a total population of 971.

In 1989, Spring Hill was chosen as the site of General Motors' new plant which would design and produce the Saturn automobile. Being so near Thompson's Station, it has brought an explosion of residential developments to the area. In 1990 the town was incorporated to stop encroaching annexation from Spring Hill.
