"City Living, Texas Style"

Irving is literally "smack dab in the middle of Fort Worth and Dallas", allowing residents and visitors quick access to either city's resources. It is difficult to imagine that Irving can maintain its own identity while being overshadowed by two of Texas' largest cities. However, Irving has preserved much of its early heritage. With over 100 years of history flavoring this growing town, artifacts of the city's humble but proud past are very visible. An old railroad depot and caboose celebrate the founding of Irving as a railroad town in 1903. Early commerce in the town revolved around a number of businesses, though cotton growing, truck farming, dairy farming, and poultry production were the main industries of the time. Very often, farmers sold their produce in Dallas. Irving steadily grew, even through the Great Depression, and greatly benefited from the two great cities that flank it.

Visitors today will take note of not only the intact heritage of Irving, but also the evidence of its immense growth. This area is highly attractive to new and developing businesses, as not only does the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport lie just adjacent to the city, but a solid infrastructure, accessible to local and global markets, is ready to lend support. Irving's labor force is highly skilled, as nearby universities and technical schools are a major source for employees. Irving's freedom from state income tax and excellent city planning initiatives also provide an unsurpassed quality of living.

Visitors to the area will find plenty to keep them occupied. Dallas and Fort Worth are themselves treasure troves of shopping, dining, and recreation. For example, sports fans will be in paradise, as the NFL Cowboys, NHL Stars, NBA Mavericks and MLB Rangers find their homes here. In fact, the Dallas Cowboys play in Irving at Texas Stadium. Okay, so what does Irving itself have to offer other than Cowboys football? I'm glad you asked? For starters, several of the most exquisite shopping plazas are at your disposal such as Galleria and the Irving Mall, and delectable cuisine from the world over may be found throughout Irving. More unique attractions include the Irving Arts Center, featuring contemporary and traditional works by established and emerging artists, is also built with an outdoor sculpture garden, and two theaters for the performing arts and concerts. In nearby Las Colinas, the "Mustangs of Las Colinas" are a must see, comprising nine larger-than-life bronze mustangs galloping across a granite stream. For an opportunity to reminisce and relax, the Mandalay Canal Walk is a tree-lined cobblestone walkway reminiscent of a European village.

Quality of life in Irving is very high, supported by excellent city planning, strong school districts, and a tight hold on the area's heritage.
