The Fort Bend Independent School District has purchased a 12-acre site for its first elementary school in Telfair. Fort Bend ISD plans to break ground for the school this summer and to welcome its first class of students in August, 2007. The school, which will be the district's 42nd elementary campus, will feature an approximately 90,000-square-foot building with capacity for 840 students. The district will begin its formal process to select a name for the new school this fall.
"We are very excited about the master plan for Telfair, and we love the fact
that our first school will have such a scenic location within the community.
The faculty, staff and students will be able to enjoy lake views every day,"
said Dr. Manuela Pedraza, Acting Superintendent of Fort Bend ISD.
The Telfair master plan has proposed locations for a total of three school
sites, including a second elementary school campus and one high school camp us.
All schools in Telfair will be part of the Fort Bend Independent School
District.
