Hurricane Relocation Guide

Hurricane is located in Washington County

Population: 3,915

Hurricane is home of the festive Peach Days, and is located 20 miles east of St. George. Hurricane derived its name from Erastus Snow who was returning to St. George from visiting the Virgin River Communities. As his company made its way into the valley, an abrupt whirlwind whisked off his buggy top, and Erastus remarked that it was just like a hurricane! They agreed the name fit and the Hurricane Hill, Bench and Valley were named.

Downtown Hurricane features many charming specialty shops, motels, and restaurants. The Hurricane Valley Pioneer Heritage Park is fascinating with vintage artifacts placed within the beautiful grounds and in the museum.

In summary, Mrs. Wilhelmina Hinton said it best, "The panorama of beauty and industry that unfolds before the eye from the top of the Hurricane Hill is not duplicated anywhere in Utah. The patchwork of orchards, grain fields and alfalfa fields, as they spread before one in their varying shades of green and sizes, reminds one of a crazy patchwork quilt. Only a quilt of such size and magnitude must have been fashioned by the gods."
