(Highland enjoys its natural location)
Like many of the communities in Utah, Pleasant Grove was settled by the Mormon pioneers. These early settlers were sent here by Brigham Young, thus establishing the small community on September 13, 1850. The pioneers were attracted by a small grove of trees which gave promise and hope of a land with water and rich soil. The official name of "Pleasant Grove" didn't come first although the name was based on the small grove of trees that were here when they first arrived.
And now, a message from the mayor of Highland, Edward Sanderson:
"A "Great Place to Grow" is our slogan. This describes those strong feelings of community pride and satisfaction for those of us who have had the opportunity to have our roots in Pleasant Grove. We extend to you a welcome and invite you to visit us and see for yourself. I believe that you can see some examples of this in our Internet page. Several studies show that 20 percent of the families in our community are connected to the Internet and that number continues to grow.
Pleasant Grove is one of the fastest growing communities in Utah County. We are situated below the majestic Mt. Timpanogos and enjoy its abundant spring water, sun rises, snow-covered slopes and overall beauty. We are close to the large urban facilities that make for a comfortable life style and also enjoy the advantages of the small town atmosphere that allows you to know your neighbors and build strong personal ties to family and friends."
