Very rich in history, Centreville, chartered in 1792, has historical landmarks such as Sully Plantation, the Mt. Gilead House, the Old Stone Church, and the Ox Hill Battlefield sites. These serve as just a few of the many reminders of the heritage embedded in Centreville.  Centreville is comprised of over 95 official Home Owner Association (HOA) operated neighborhood communities, each with it's own amenities.  Over the last decade, Centreville has more than doubled in size, now reaching a population of over 48,600 citizens.

Centreville is supported by two public high schools, two public middle schools and nine public elementary schools.  More information about each school can be found by clicking our School and Teachers directory link above.  These schools are managed by the Fairfax County School Board with a 2002-2003 annual budget of 1.5 billion dollars.

The life-blood of any community is it's devoted volunteer community organizations. Centreville's volunteer organizations are multi-faceted and serve a diverse group of interests and businesses for the common enjoyment and betterment of the entire community. The community spirited nature of our involved citizens has been a hall-mark of Centreville from it's early inception. This vibrant spirit is demonstrated every day through the large number of volunteer organizations that thrive in this community.
