Auburn is located in King County in the southern Puget Sound area of western Washington between Seattle and Tacoma. The City of Auburn was incorporated in 1891. Auburn has a total land area of 21.82 square miles.

Algona is located in King County to the southwest of Auburn and just north of Pacific. The City of Algona has a total land area of 860 acres. Algona incorporated in 1955. The city boasts a noted wetland that is home to spectacular herons.

Auburn Area Business ForecastTo assure orderly growth, the City of Auburn has developed a comprehensive land use plan, with specific areas designated for industrial, commercial and residential development, and with the ability to establish special planning districts. A new comprehensive downtown plan will greatly expedite the plan review process. All are interspersed with parks and open spaces to preserve the community’s quality of life.
More than two thirds of Auburn’s industrial land has been developed, providing a solid industrial and business base. The remaining raw land is very affordable. In fact, no other easily accessible area in King County has land so reasonably priced. Auburn leads south King County in job creation. From 1990 to 1997, 7,241 new jobs were created by over 500 new businesses, an increase of 27 percent in seven years. Our daytime employment population within a ten-mile radius has increased from 151,714 to 210,333 since 1994.
