Whidbey Island Relocation Guide

Whidbey Island is located in Island County

Population: 58,211

The longest salt-water surrounded island in the continental United States, Whidbey Island marks the northern edge of Puget Sound. The island has five state parks and recreation areas, two of which include historic forts and tourists centers.

The island is connected to the mainland by the Highway 20 bridge at Deception Pass and by Washington State Ferries, with a route connecting Clinton at the south end of the island with Mukilteo on the mainland.

The other major centers on the island are Langley, Freeland, Greenbank, Coupeville, and Oak Harbor.

Whidbey Island (at the north end) is connected to Fidalgo Island (Anacortes) by Deception Pass Bridge which is a spectacular attraction visited by people from all over the world. Deception Pass State Park features camp sites, showers, restrooms, and beaches. Located in Island County, it is a great place for outdoor recreation. Fishing, kayaking, hiking, biking, boating, bird watching, clamming, golfing and camping are favorite sports for residents and visitors alike. In addition to being surrounded by salt water, there is also fresh water in Deer, Goss, Cranberry and Pass Lakes.

In South Whidbey, see views of Saratoga Passage, tree-shaded roadsides and plenty of rural life and cozy inlets. In Central Whidbey, visit Fort Ebey State Park and Kettles Park which features several bike trails. The Crockett Lake 30 mile loop takes you to the heart of the Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve, offering spectacular views from both sides of the island. The Silverlake Area 12 mile loop on North Whidbey has light auto traffic, plenty of tall evergreens and views of Crescent Harbor, Saratoga Passage and the northern Cascade Mountains.
