Rice Lake City Hall Rice Lake had its beginning when Knapp, Stout and Co., famed Menomonie logging firm, constructed a storage dam on the site of an earlier Indian Village and wild rice bed taking the name of the community from that location in 1864. Cultural attractions include Aquafest, Barron County Fair, Communiversity Band, Music in the Park Concerts, Red Cedar Symphony and Summer Theaters and Art Center, There is two exists from U.S. Highway 53 - to the south, exit 140 on County Highway O; to the north, exit 143 in State Highway 48. Land Area is 9.1 square miles. Altitude is 1,148 feet above sea level. Eau Claire is 60 miles south. Superior / Duluth is 100 miles north, and Minneapolis / St. Paul is 100 miles west.
